I admit I'm not much of a wine connoisseur. I've been to wine tastings at some beautiful wineries in California and New Mexico, including one where we sat outside in the garden with hundreds of hummingbirds and butterflies flitting around above our heads. However, I came away from those pretty tipsy and giggly, loaded down with bottle-filled cartons to take home, but not much more knowledge. When Winc offered me the chance to explore wines through their monthly service and share the results with you guys, I was excited to learn more.

Winc is not your traditional wine club: they are a direct-distribution global wine company that personalizes the entire wine experience. They are perfecting how wine is made, distributed, perceived and purchased via their Palate Profile quiz that recommends wine based on your unique tastes. It takes the hassle and guesswork out of picking a bottle from your local liquor store and delivers the perfect bottles directly to your doorstep. They do all this as part of their quest to improve the experience for consumers, create a platform for artisanal winemaking, and build a grape-to-glass supply chain that's sustainable for the planet. No more intimidating language and steep price points, and more joy in the act of sharing a bottle. My Readers Save $22 Off Your First Month of Winc.
Now on to my actual experience shopping with Winc! They do offer the above-mentioned quiz to help narrow down your wine choices. I liked that I wasn't married to these choices and could explore and choose other wines on the site. Just to be totally honest, YES I BASED SOME OF MY CHOICES ON HOW CUTE THE LABELS WERE. Don't judge me, okay!
Shipping was fast and easy. Since an adult must be present to sign for the shipment, the company goes out of their way to let you know exactly when to expect delivery. The wines arrived with a handy booklet explaining the different aspects of various wines as well as how they are made and how to recognize the flavor profiles and properties of each one.

The first wine I received was the 2017 Sauvetage Rosé from Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence, France. This is a light-bodied, dry direct-pressed wine with notes of candied lemon, pink grapefruit, and rose petals.

Next we have this 2016 Ville Basse Merlot from Pays d'Oc, France. This quaffable, earthy drink is a perfect dinner wine. Rich but also bright, it contains a complex mixture of juicy fruit, cassis, plum, menthol and chocolate.

The Rosa Obscura Red Blend from California is a velvety, ripe, luscious wine. Zinfandel is blended with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot for juicy notes of cherry, strawberry, cassis, cocoa and violet.

This 2017 Ruza Zinfandel Rosé hails from Lodi, California. This friendly, fun choice has tasting notes of cherry, citrus, mandarin orange, rose petal, strawberry, and watermelon.

This last wine, I'm not ashamed to say I chose entirely for the label. I mean, c'mon! You know it's adorable. This is the 2016 Copycat Tempranillo from Clarksburg, California. It's a vibrant, fruity crowd-pleaser with tasting notes of baking spice, blackberry, and strawberry.

Whichever wines you choose, I feel like Winc is a fun experience that will help open up your mind and palate to new experiences!
